Barreiro Montijo Hospital Center

The Barreiro Montijo Hospital Center was established on November 1, 2009, through Decree-law no. 280/2009, and comprises the Hospital of Nossa Senhora do Rosário and the Hospital of Montijo. It has over 30 clinical specialties, providing assistance in the areas of inpatient care, outpatient consultation, emergency services, day hospital, home care, and virtually all complementary diagnostic and therapeutic services arising therefrom. With an area of influence that includes the municipalities of Barreiro, Moita, Montijo, and Alcochete, the Institution serves a population of over 213,000 inhabitants.

Mission

The Hospital Center's mission is to provide differentiated healthcare to all citizens within the scope of the responsibilities and capabilities of its integrated hospital units, Hospital of Nossa Senhora do Rosário and Hospital of Montijo, executing national and regional health policy definitions, strategic plans, and decisions duly approved.

In October 2020, a multidisciplinary working group was appointed to establish the Clinical Research Unit, with the aim of promoting clinical research at the Hospital Center.
