Associação MOG - Movimento Oncológico Ginecológico

The Associação MOG - Movimento Oncológico Ginecológico is dedicated to supporting women diagnosed with gynecological cancers, their families, friends, and healthcare professionals, with the aim of ensuring proper diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care, contributing to improving the quality of life of all women dealing with these conditions.

Created in 2019 as a non-profit association, MOG has the mission of informing, supporting, empowering, and advocating for patients' rights, while simultaneously promoting health literacy and the humanization of care. In 2025, it was recognized as ADUS – Association for the Defense of Health Users by the Ministry of Health.

In Portugal, approximately 3,000 gynecological cancers are diagnosed annually, including endometrial cancer (the most common), ovarian cancer (the most lethal), cervical cancer (preventable and potentially eradicable), as well as vulvar and vaginal cancers.

Through its initiatives and partnerships, both nationally and internationally, with patient associations, platforms, scientific societies, and other entities with responsibilities in the health sector, MOG actively works to defend the rights of individuals with disease, aiming for equity in access to healthcare, timely diagnoses, therapeutic innovation, and the best treatments available, regardless of socioeconomic status or place of residence.

Simultaneously, MOG carries out awareness campaigns for the general population and specific audiences, encouraging every woman to pay attention to her body, recognize unusual symptoms, and maintain regular gynecology and/or general medicine and family doctor appointments. Prevention, screenings, and early diagnosis are essential for more effective treatments and better health outcomes.
