Local Health Unit of Região de Leiria

The Research Center (CI) of the Centro Hospitalar de Leiria (CHL), E.P.E., is a body aimed at promoting and coordinating studies and research projects in various fields of knowledge to be conducted at CHL. The CI's mission is to coordinate and drive the execution of research activities carried out at the institution, creating the necessary tools for the development of local projects as well as establishing partnerships with entities external to CHL.

Our competencies:

• Organize, promote, supervise, and disseminate research studies and projects conducted at CHL, and implement and maintain an updated database of research projects, clinical trials, papers, presentations, and questionnaires carried out at CHL or developed by CHL professionals as part of their qualifications;
• Validate and submit clinical research study approval requests to the board of directors and the ethics committee of CHL (when applicable);
  Support clinical and non-clinical teams involved in research studies in all administrative and logistical matters directly related to them, particularly concerning project financing and external audits;
• Promote the creation of research groups, the implementation of research projects, and clinical trials;
• Encourage national and international interinstitutional scientific cooperation;
• Propose to the board of directors the establishment of agreements with external entities, aiming to support the research conducted at the institution;
• Disseminate external funding sources for scientific research to the CHL research community and support applications for external funding. Associated members of CI include all researchers, whether integrated or not into clinical and non-clinical teams or research groups involved in studies or research projects currently underway at CHL.
