The Lusíadas Saúde Group, founded in 1998, is a leading group in the healthcare sector in Portugal with hospitals and clinics from north to south of the country.

In 2020, the Lusíadas Saúde Group, recognizing the importance of investment in clinical research, education, and training, established the Lusíadas Knowledge Center - Health Education & Research Association, a corporate academy supporting education, clinical and scientific research within the group’s various units, as well as the dissemination of knowledge to external entities. The Lusíadas Knowledge Center (LKC) was created to change the landscape of clinical research and promote scientific development within the Lusíadas Saúde Group.

LKC is responsible for managing and developing the areas of clinical research and innovation, providing a strategy supported by tools and methodologies that foster creative thinking and innovation: clinical trials and observational studies by both sponsors and investigators.

The research support structure includes dedicated study coordinators, clinical and pharmacy coordination, and provides scientific support in team training, feasibility assessment for trials, medication circuit management, and industry interface.

LKC also includes specific centers for scientific information, epidemiology, and statistics.
