Oeste Hospital Center, EPE

The Oeste Hospital Center, created in 2012, resulted from the merger between the former Noroeste Hospital Center and the Torres Vedras Hospital Center. This new Hospital Center initiated a fusion that integrated the northern and southern zones of the West region. In 2018, the transformation of the Oeste Hospital Center into a public business entity was carried out through the amendment of its legal status (Decree-Law No. 44/2018, of June 18), effective from July 1.

The Oeste Hospital Center, E.P.E. (CHO, E.P.E.) has the mission to "provide healthcare with rigor and technical, scientific, and organizational excellence, with professional ethics and social justice, ensuring each patient receives care that meets their needs, in accordance with best clinical practices and efficient use of available resources."

The Research Center of CHO, E.P.E. was established and implemented under the terms of Order No. 7216/2015, of June 24. This service aims to ensure the fulfillment of the following objectives:

  • Promote the development of scientific research;
  • Promote good practices in research;
  • Provide support for the design and submission of studies;
  • Provide support for data analysis and scientific publication;
  • Support applications for external funding;
  • Establish collaborations between researchers and with external partners;
  • Seek to bring research activities into the improvement of daily clinical practice.
