Academic Clinical Center-Braga

The Clinical Academic Center of Braga (2CA-Braga) is a non-profit association between the University of Minho, the Local Health Unit of Braga, E.P.E., and the CUF-Porto Hospital.

Founded in 2012 and based at the Local Health Unit of Braga, 2CA-Braga aims to develop clinical research within a healthcare environment, fostering the promotion and production of knowledge to enhance more effective clinical care as well as the quality and efficiency of healthcare assistance.

The vision of 2CA-Braga is to create a paradigm shift in healthcare, reflecting in the increased ability of healthcare professionals to proactively engage patients in a more adaptable type of healthcare, as well as the proper monitoring of a larger number of individuals. To this end, 2CA-Braga promotes clinical research projects, translational methodologies, and clinical trials, hosting scientific activities in the field of health sciences and offering services to the clinical and scientific community. 2CA-Braga is actively involved in fostering a culture of dissemination of the knowledge generated among the scientific community, healthcare professionals, and the general public, ensuring that advancements in medical research result in direct clinical benefits for patients.

2CA-Braga provides its own fully equipped infrastructure where medical consultations, nursing and neuropsychological assessments, biological sample collections, application of scales/questionnaires, dispensing of experimental medication, complementary diagnostic procedures, among other clinical procedures, are carried out to facilitate the clinical evaluation of participants in clinical research.

Its integrated structure enables essential innovation steps in various dimensions, directly supporting 2CA-Braga's mission and objective of promoting clinical and translational research, aligned with population needs, to deliver excellence in healthcare through research.
