The ULSAR, created on January 1, 2024, results from the integration of the Barreiro Montijo Hospital Center and the ACES Arco Ribeirinho. This strategic unification coordinates hospital care and primary healthcare in a direct area of influence that encompasses the municipalities of Alcochete, Barreiro, Moita, and Montijo, providing assistance to more than 235,000 patients.

Acting across the entire local health network, UICAR coordinates, monitors, and supports scientific projects developed by the institution's professionals, ensuring strict compliance with Good Clinical Practices, ethical standards, and the methodological rigor required to attract and conduct international clinical studies.
